A recent survey by SFE (Solicitors for the Elderly) found that 44% of UK adults have not updated their Will in the last five years.
This week is Update Your Will Week, as SFE encourage everyone to take a look at their Will and see if anything needs changed, especially if their circumstances have changed. Making sure your Will is up to date is vital, ensuring that your family, friends and the causes that you love are looked after.
Some things to think about:
- Have you recently married or divorced? Do you have a life-long partner that you want to ensure is cared for?
- Do you have children or grandchildren? If you have children under 16 you should decide who would look after them and ensure there are funds to help.
- Do you own property? Have you moved house? Who do you live with?
- Have any of your beneficiaries or executors died since you made your will?
- What is your current financial situation? Do you own a business? Has the value of your assets or your pension changed?
